The musical is set in 1920s New York City in the Jazz Age. Millie Dillmount decides to leave her life in Kansas for that of a modern flapper in New York City and finds herself in the middle of several schemes in her newfound lifestyle. “This show really appeals to the musical theater audience and for our adult audience too. We have tap, we have the roaring 20s themes and big musical numbers that are fun and high energy,” PEF director Amy Walker said. “It’s also a great comedic show, which gives students some fun roles to explore. And there are some great challenging elements for students who want to be involved with the orchestra and crew.” The production team for this year’s show includes Walker and Tiffany Ball as producers, Robert Hunt as director and choreographer, Terry Becker as vocal director, Kimberly Wren as orchestra director, Tanya Sweet as scenic designer and technical director and Chuck Meacham as lighting designer. With the entire production team returning for the 2017 musical, Ball said the show will continue along the tradition of excellence that the program was founded on. “All the people on the production team have an incredible gift for collaboration,” she said. “This ultimately gives our students an even better educational experience during the summer, which is always the top priority for the program.”
